About

Founded in 2020 by Youmi and Kevin Haefelin, Kumoshika is an independent boutique production company based in Geneva, Switzerland. We develop high-quality artistic, thought-provoking projects through films, documentaries, TV series & unscripted content, which we produce and coproduce for international appeal. Our commitment to social impact drives us to promote cultural diversity and amplify the voices of underrepresented communities within the industry.

Our debut film, “Trumpet,” received a nomination for Best Short Film at the Swiss Film Award (Quartz) and gained international acclaim, including a nomination at the BAFTA Student Film Awards and selections in 12 Academy Awards® qualifying festivals. Following this success, we co-produced “Macadam,” a compelling short film in co-production between Argentina and Switzerland featuring Luis Ortega, which premiered at BAFICI.

Our subsequent project, “The Fuse”, was produced in partnership with RTS Radio Television Suisse and Matthew Modine’s Cinco Dedos Peliculas. This award-winning film premiered at PÖFF | Tallinn Black Nights and won the 33rd Gotham Awards in New York. It was also nominated for Best Short Film at the Swiss Film Award (Quartz), received a BAFTA Student Film Awards nomination, and was a contender for the 96th Academy Awards (Oscars®). “The Fuse” is now globally available on VOD through a distribution deal with Focus Features and features on JetBlue’s in-flight entertainment systems.

Looking ahead, we are developing an exciting slate of projects: "Those Who Wait," a psychological horror feature set in Japan; "Pufferfish," a coming-of-age queer drama set in Atlanta, Georgia, which has been selected for the Torino Film Lab and IFFR Rotterdam Lab; and "Unveiled," an experimental short film set in New York City.
